Article: Bleeding after sex is a common problem among many women. If it is not caused by the first sexual intercourse or sex-related injury, it may indicate that a woman has some gynecological inflammation, such as cervical erosion, cervical cyst, cervical cancer, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease and so on. If this type of inflammation is found, it must be treated actively to prevent serious illnesses. More importantly, we must respect the physical and mental health of individuals.
1. Cervical Erosion
90% of married women suffer from cervical inflammation. Cervical erosion is classified into three levels: mild, moderate, and severe. The male penis rubbing against the cervical area during sexual intercourse can cause friction and bleeding in women with mild to moderate cervical erosion. As this bleeding is small, it does not flow out immediately, but remains hidden inside the female vagina, where the color of the blood changes from a bright red to a darker shade over time. Therefore, when discharged from the hospital the next day, the blood will appear dark red.
2. Cervical Cyst
Under long-term inflammation stimulus, the cervix may develop cysts. One or more small pedunculated masses, similar to mung bean sprouts, will appear near the finger. The cyst material is fragile, and will bleed upon touch, causing bleeding after sexual intercourse. This bleeding is usually bright red.
3. Cervical Cancer
Bleeding after sex is the most basic manifestation of cervical cancer. Due to the large number of small blood vessels and sensitive tissue involved in cancer diseases, after sex, the capillaries may bleed due to damage. If the cancer progresses further, it is more likely to cause bleeding.
4. Endometriosis
Some uterine heterotopic tissues grow and develop in the cervical area, taking on a purplish-blue cyst-like appearance. If couples encounter these purplish-blue nodular lesions during intercourse, it may cause bleeding. The bleeding is generally small in volume and dark red in color, and there may be abdominal pain after sex.
5. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Pelvic inflammation can cause congestion in the pelvic area. If the uterine wall swells and edemas, sexual intercourse may cause bleeding in the hemorrhagic uterus, but this is a rare occurrence.
6. Sexual Injury
The most common site of sexual injury is the posterior flexure hole of the vagina, which can sometimes cause a three-centimeter-long tear serious enough to reach the back or outside of the abdomen. Some people mistakenly believe that applying some sand cloth or some menstrual paper outside the vagina will activate blood circulation. In fact, this does not help. Therefore, if you encounter this situation, it is necessary to seek medical treatment as soon as possible. According to the detailed situation of the injury, the gynecologist will take appropriate treatment measures, such as compressing the female vagina closed with sand cloth, or suturing the intestine, to activate blood circulation.
